The U.S. banking regulator, the OCC, said that the company’s previous proposal was incompatible with the Fed’s new rules. The inconsistencies concern access to core accounts in payment systems. According to Reuters, Wise’s rejection is related to compliance with anti-money-laundering laws. Wise said its infrastructure can interact with traditional payment systems and blockchain. However, the company still does not take any specific position on stablecoins. Previously, BitGo, Circle, Fidelity, Paxos, and Ripple received preliminary approval for a similar license from the OCC.
