She has worked at the agency for nearly eight years. Peirce was a strong supporter of the crypto industry and backed regulatory relief. She also organized meetings with crypto companies. Since February 4, 2025, Peirce had been overseeing the SEC’s crypto task force. Her term expired in June 2025. However, commissioners may continue serving for up to 18 months after their term expires if they have not been replaced. After Peirce’s departure, only two commissioners will remain at the SEC — both Republicans. They are Chairman Paul Atkins and Commissioner Mark Uyeda. In November, Peirce will become an associate professor at Regent University School of Law in Virginia. She will teach securities regulation and digital assets.
