The country’s parliament voted to repeal the requirement to have a cryptocurrency validator. In doing so, it removed the mandatory third-party approval for certain crypto transactions. Finance Minister András Kármán said the rule had forced crypto companies to leave the local market. In particular, the Budapest-based crypto platform CoinCash suspended operations because of the restrictions in December 2025. Meanwhile, Revolut, like other crypto companies, also stopped providing digital asset services in the country. However, already on July 20, Hungary’s central bank issued the first MiCA license to CoinCash. The restrictions had been in force since July 1, 2025. The company will be able to provide custodial services, exchange crypto assets for fiat, make transfers, and advise institutional clients.
